Desired Skills:

In-depth knowledge of UK GAAP and UK taxation frameworks, including end-to-end bookkeeping, VAT, PAYE, National Insurance, and pensions, with the ability to interpret and work on FRS 105, FRS 102-1A, and FRS 102, in complex client scenarios. Extensive experience in reviewing and finalizing financial statements (monthly, quarterly, and annual), ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with client business objectives. Strategic oversight of accounting operations, ensuring that internal review and quality control processes are consistently followed and continuously improved. Strong analytical and advisory skills, offering clients strategic insights on financial performance, business planning, and process optimization. Expertise in financial forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management, with an ability to support long-term financial strategy and growth planning for clients. Effective stakeholder and client management, maintaining high levels of client satisfaction through proactive communication, issue resolution, and strategic financial guidance. Ability to implement and monitor process improvements, driving efficiency, standardization, and the adoption of new technologies or automation tools within the team. Commitment to continuous learning, keeping the team updated on evolving UK accounting practices, legislation, and digital accounting systems. Job Description

1. Team Leadership & Management 

  • Lead and oversee multiple accounting teams, ensuring high-quality deliverables, adherence to deadlines, and compliance with company standards. 
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback to Team Leaders and accountants to build a motivated, technically strong, and collaborative workforce. 
  • Set and monitor individual and team KPIs to ensure performance targets, quality standards, and productivity goals are achieved. 
  • Ensure timely submission of timesheets and accurate updates in workflow systems to maintain visibility of progress and workloads. 
  • Conduct regular review meetings to monitor performance, resolve issues, and identify development opportunities. 

2. Bookkeeping Oversight & Financial Review 

  • Oversee the complete bookkeeping process for UK-based clients, ensuring compliance with UK GAAP and client-specific SOPs. 
  • Review and verify accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries and reconciliations, ensuring completeness and accuracy. 
  • Review and ensure the accuracy of financial statements (balance sheet, profit & loss, cash flow), ensuring compliance with UK accounting standards (FRS 102-1A, FRS 105). 
  • Review year-end reconciliations, including bank, payroll, VAT, intercompany, and other balance sheet accounts, ensuring all discrepancies are investigated and resolved promptly. 
  • Oversee the preparation and analysis of MIS reports, providing actionable insights on financial trends, key metrics, and client performance. 

3. Taxation & Compliance 

  • Review and approve VAT returns, ensuring compliance with UK tax regulations, including necessary adjustments or updates. 
  • Review Corporation Tax (CT600) returns, ensuring appropriate tax deductions, allowances, and reliefs are accurately applied. 
  • Review Self-Assessment tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and trusts — ranging from simple to complex cases — ensuring accuracy and compliance. 
  • Keep abreast of changes in UK accounting and taxation legislation and ensure that all internal and client processes reflect current standards. 

4. Client Relationship Management 

  • Act as the primary point of contact for client queries, providing expert financial guidance and addressing complex accounting and tax concerns. 
  • Provide regular updates to clients and senior management regarding financial activities, project status, and key deliverables. 
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring satisfaction, trust, and retention through effective communication and service delivery. 
  • Offer strategic financial insights to clients to support decision-making, growth planning, and process optimization. 

5. Strategic & Operational Oversight

  • Manage overall team operations, workload allocation, and resource planning to ensure efficiency and balanced capacity. 
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and optimization across bookkeeping and reporting functions. 
  • Support senior leadership in developing and implementing operational strategies to drive service quality, scalability, and efficiency. 
  • Monitor performance trends through data and MIS insights, implementing corrective actions as needed. 

6. Quality Control & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure all deliverables undergo appropriate review and quality assurance prior to client submission. 
  • Drive process standardization and implementation of best practices across teams. 
  • Champion continuous learning initiatives and upskilling in evolving accounting technologies and standards. 
  • Promote a culture of accuracy, accountability, and professional excellence within the department.

 

Qualification

  • B.com, M.com or Equivalent Qualification  
  • 8-10 + years of experience in bookkeeping and Year end accounting.  
  • Knowledge of Self-assessment tax returns or Payroll will be added advance.  
  • Professional certification (e.g., CA, ACCA) is a plus but not mandatory. 

Language Proficiency (If Any):

  • Well conversant in verbal and written English communication 

    Computer Proficiency & specifications:

    • Proficiency in UK-based accounting Software (Xero, QuickBooks, Hubdoc, Dext, IRIS, Digita, CCH, and TaxCalc) 
    • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams, Word, etc.).
